If you've decided to follow your dream of becoming an artist, Paul Dorrell has advice for you in his memoir/art guide, "Living the Artist's Life." Dorrell will read at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Barnes & Noble in the Galleria, 3225 W. 69th St., Edina.

Dorrell is a gallery owner, art consultant and writer in Kansas City, Mo. His book, subtitled "A Guide to Growing, Persevering, and Succeeding in the Art World," tackles topics as diverse as depression among writers, art fairs and juried shows and getting paid.
