Book Review
by JASON GARGANO
According to artist Robert Henri, "Art is a terrible way to make a living but a wonderful way to live." If so, PAUL DORRELL wants to help. His new guidebook/memoir, Living the Artists Life, aims to aid the artistically inclined in their efforts to "grow, persevere and succeed in the art world." Dorrell, a gallery owner and novelist, imparts candid first-hand knowledge about the perils of living off one's passion.
The book's eight chapters cover everything from creating portfolios and networking with gallery owners to dealing with critics and an artist's inevitable self-doubt, something Dorrell writes about with great insight and rare generosity. He makes one of his 60 tour stops 7 p.m. Thursday at Barnes & Noble in Kenwood. 513-794-9440.
